If you hear a squealing sound when you’re making a turn, it could be several things.

  • An under inflated tire can cause some noise. Simply check your tire pressure and make sure your tires are all at the manufactures suggested pressure. Under inflated tires wear much faster, and can become safety issues. Low air pressure needs to be checked to make sure your tires aren’t leaking due to a puncture or other damage to the wheel.
  • Uneven tread wear, or worn out tires, may cause some noise. First, we would check to make sure the tires are in safe condition to drive. Rotating tires regularly could help prolong the life of your tire. There are various reasons tires wear unevenly. Daily driving takes a toll on your vehicle, road conditions, driving habits, age of the tire, and even sitting for long periods of time can attribute to the uneven wear.
  • Wheel alignment issues cause lots of noises, and even premature tire and mechanical parts to wear. Bringing your car in to your mechanic regularly will ensure that these issues are identified before they become a problem.
  • Tires, Wheels, Steering, or Suspension issues that require a diagnosis to determine needed repairs. Your cars suspension is what makes your car ride and handle smoothly. Over time, these parts naturally wear, and need to be monitored regularly with a regular maintenance routine.

Anytime your car makes an unusual noise it could be an indicator of a more serious issue. Proper, regular maintenance can catch many of these issues before you’re left stranded on the highway.
